The Hen's Nest has been proudly serving our customers for over 57 years. Our owner's extensive experience in the industry ensures we provide top-quality products and services. We've built our reputation on decades of expertise and customer satisfaction.
We have a refrigerator located right at our house that is stocked daily with our freshest eggs. The refrigerator door operates just like any other - you simply open it up and take as many cartons of eggs as you need for that visit.
Instead of having an attendant present to handle payments, we use an honor system with a secured payment drop box. Inside the refrigerator area, you'll find shelf labels that list out all available egg options and their per-unit prices.
After taking your eggs, you'll calculate your total based on the inventory sheet. Then, you'll place cash for the exact amount owed into the locked payment drop box. The box has a silted entry to prevent tampering.
We appreciate our customers' honesty in paying the listed prices. This honor system allows us to operate the farm store unmanned while still providing 24/7 access to our fresh eggs. It's a system built on mutual trust and respect between us and our valued customers.
Of course, we do periodically check the payment drop box and inventory to ensure the system is working properly. But in our 56 years of egg farming, we've been overwhelmed by the integrity of this community in doing the right thing.No, we only accept cash payments. Our unique self-serve system requires exact change. When you visit, you'll find a refrigerator containing our fresh eggs. Simply select your eggs and deposit the exact amount in our secure drop box. This honor system allows us to keep prices low and provide convenient access to farm-fresh eggs.
We offer our eggs at the Carroll County Farmer's Market, Baltimore City Farmer's Market, Bowman's Feed & Pet, Bullocks Country Meats, Buppert's Market, Hoffman's Ice Cream, Knill's Farm Market, and Steamin' Mad Crabs.
